Ferrari Launch the F60

Details of the new Formula 1 Ferrari F60, the fifty fifth monoposto built specifically to compete in the F1 World Championship have just been released by the Factory. The nomenclatura, of a format previously associated with road-going supercars, has been chosen to celebrate the Scuderia's participation in all 60 editions of the F1 World Championship since 1950 to date (pedants will point out that the World Drivers' Championship was run to F2 rules in 1952 and 1953).

The car has been designed to the new 2009 F1 regulations, intended to improve overtaking. The front wing has a common central element and is much wider than before. The rear wing is narrower and higher and the cars have been shorn of many of the slots, scoops, flick-ups and other sticky-out, wind-directing, twiddly bits that have been such a feature of recent years.

Other big changes are the introduction of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and the return to slick tyres. The F60's KERS system has been developed in collaboration with Magneti Marelli and is centrally mounted on the engine. The new car is certainly sleek, svelte and handsome and we've attached some hi-res pics for Tifosi to enjoy, however expect a lot of detail changes before the first race.
