The organisers and steering committee of the Concours of Elegance held a preview of the upcoming event to be held at Windsor Castle between 02 – 04 September, at the host Coworth Park Hotel, on Thursday 02 June, to announce the list of entrants and peripheral attractions for visitors. The sixty cars chosen for the concours embrace an eclectic array of automobile history, ranging from the dawn of the horseless carriage with an 1895 Benz Velo “Comfortable”, to the 2016 Alfa Romeo Touring Superleggera Disco Volante Spyder presented at the Geneva Salon this year. Within the number there are also some rare offerings, including the first Royal car, bought by King Edward VII, a 1900 Daimler 6hp, presented by Her Majesty The Queen.
This year marks the fifth edition of the concours, which started at Windsor Castle in 2012, before touring the Royal Palace’s at St James’s, Hampton Court and Holyrood House, now returning to Windsor Castle as part of a celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday. There will be a special display of cars from the first British Grand Prix in 1926, the year of Her Majesty’s birth, including a Delage 155B and Talbot 700, together with a British car from each decade of her lifetime, representing British engineering excellence, like the Bentley from the ‘20s, the Rolls Royce Phantom from the ‘30s, the groundbreaking Mini from the ‘60s and the amazing McLaren F1 from the ‘90s, to name but a few. There will also be a special Aston Martin gathering on the Saturday, with an example of every model produced in a parade and then on display.

There will also be more than 800 cars on display in the free-to-view area along Windsor Castle’s Long Walk, courtesy of some of the UK’s leading car clubs. These include owners’ clubs from AC, Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, Ferrari and Lamborghini and many others, who will provide spectacular displays of many rare cars for all to enjoy. Within the pay-to-enter section there will be further displays in the Specialist Showcase area, where some of the best known names in the British classic car world will have a variety of cars on offer, along with many lifestyle offerings.
