What you’re looking at right now is the in-your-face rendering for the Ferrari Hotel. Ferrari, as in Ferrari, the car. And yes, this is for real.
Ferrari is planning their second Ferrari World theme park in Barcelona at the Port Aventura Resort (The first theme park is in Abu Dhabi.) When completed in 2016, it will be Europe’s first Ferrari theme park and Ferrari’s first luxury hotel.
Without much to go on about the details of the hotel, other than this picture, here’s what we do know so far:
The building’s shape is supposedly to resemble the front wing of their Formula 1 car. (Apologies to F1 fans if we’ve got this wrong.) The red exterior will be no ordinary red–it will be Ferrari “red”, just as the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy, reflects the recognizable Ferrari “yellow.”
We know that the hotel is slated to be 5-star, so that means all the bells and whistles on services and amenities. And we’re thinking wheels. The décor could include visual references of Ferrari’s 67-year history, and maybe a special exhibit from the museum. We imagine lots of metal finishes and Italian leather furnishings. Then again, this hotel is within a family-oriented theme park, so it might have to be a little more kid-friendly.
When it comes to the guest rooms, we would bet — yes, bet — there will be at least one, if not several “Ferrari Suites.” We’ve seen luxury car suites before, as in the “Jaguar Suite” at Taj 51 Buckingham Gate and the “Bentley Suite” at the St. Regis New York. No question Ferrari will outdo themselves and probably surprise us all. Well, maybe not us.
Fingers crossed they call their rooms, “vrooms.”
