NATIONAL AIR & SPACE CAMP, RAF SYERSTON FAMILIES’ DAY AND FLYING DISPLAY

This is not a public event and open only to friends, family and invited guests (all FOC Club members); therefore please do not publicise this event ahead of attendance.

Each year RAF Syerston holds the RAF Air Cadets (RAFAC) National Air & Space Camp (NASC). This is a flagship event within the RAFAC calendar which invites Air Cadets from across the UK to participate in activities that expand on the themes of the Air, Space and Cyber.

Historically, over 500 cadets have attended the NASC VIP/Industry Day; however, this year, it is expected that there will be an additional 500 in attendance! There will be a dramatic rework to the layout of the event meaning a fresh experience for those who have attended over the last two years.

Alongside a static display of aircraft, there will be a Flight Display taking place in the afternoon. Whilst the details have not yet been finalised this is set to be bigger than ever, with last years’ display including:

  • Eurofighter Typhoon
  • Spitfire
  • Hurricane
  • F35
  • Puma
  • GSA K21
  • The RAF Aerobatic Team – “The Red Arrows”

After the success of the last two years, the Club have been invited to provide a static display of Ferraris with space for 40 cars available. A waiting list will be held for interested members in the event that capacity increases closer to the time.

Interested members will need to meet nearby before heading to RAF Syerston for 0900 at a location that will be shared the week of, with departure from RAF Syerston at approximately 1700. No early departures from RAF Syerston will be possible without prior arrangement with organisers at the base and an escort off-site. Unfortunately there is no guarantee that late arrivals can be accommodated on the day.

The Club asks those that those attending be with their cars for a period when the Air Cadets and families arrive to answer any questions they may have about your Ferrari. This is our chance to encourage the next generation of Ferrari enthusiasts!

How do I get involved?

Joining in this exclusive experience couldn’t be easier. Using the button below simply complete the short form in the Club Shop to register your interest. In the event that all spaces are allocated a reserve list will be held as additional capacity could become available.

About RAF Syerston

RAF Syerston initially opened as a Bomber Command station in 1940 operating Wellington, Manchester and Lancaster bombers. Post-war Syerston became a training base, eventually transferring to Flying Training Command and 2 Flying Training School operating Jet Provosts.

Syerston was put on care and maintenance from 1971 until it reopened in January 1975 for light aircraft and gliding operations. Syerston is currently a station in its own right, having previously been a satellite airfield of RAF College Cranwell.

Since January 2014, RAF Syerston has been the home to 2 FTS HQ, the RAF Central Gliding School (CGS) and 644 Volunteer Gliding Squadron.  The Central Flying School (CFS) (Gliding Examiners) also maintains an examining unit at the Station.
